Patrick Myers 'Corn Tassel'
As a registered citizen of the Cherokee Nation, I seek to honor our Creator through paintings, native flute music, hand drum and singing. Corn Tassel (Utsitsata) is a name from one of my Cherokee ancestors; his daughter and other relatives had variants of the name. Corn has traditionally been an important food source for many indigenous communities in North America. The tassel is the pollen producer of the corn, associated with healthy sustainable crops, and symbolically to valuing children. My role as a father is one of my highest callings.
